Award-winning writer David Ingham (Shaun the Sheep, Luo Bao Bei, Peppa Pig) also features on the series writing team along with Morgan Bailey, Mariama Ives-Moiba, Myles McLeod, Madeleine Brettingham, Steve Box, James Moran, Hannah George, Alex Collier, Denise Cassar, Tim Bain, Ciaran Murtagh and Andrew Barnett Jones.
The Rubbish World of Dave Spud is being produced by Iain Harvey (The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Little Princess, War Game) at The Illuminated Film Company, with animation at Cloth Cat Animation.
Dave Spud has been commissioned for ITV by Paul Mortimer, Director of Digital Channels. Series 1 (26 x 11mins) was first broadcast on September 2nd 2019. Following record ratings the series was re-commissioned for series 2 (52 x 11mins) in 2020 and series 3 (26 x 11mins) in 2023.
The series has been sold to BBC ALBA for Scottish Gaelic language, S4C for Welsh language and RTE Ireland. Internationally the series has been sold to ABC Australia, SVT in Sweden, EITB in Spain.
